BLÀT
Belgian wool is abundant, but has become almost invisible. What was once a valued textile material, strongly linked to the landscape and culture, is now often considered waste. In some cases, it costs shepherds more to dispose of their wool than they get for it.

When wool cannot compete with cheap synthetic fibres or large-scale imports, more than just a raw material is lost. Craftsmanship, the local economy and knowledge also disappear. The production chain becomes fragmented and is at risk of breaking down completely.
BLÀT consciously chooses a different perspective. Belgian wool is not seen as a residual flow, but as a local, renewable material with a history and a future.
Through textile design and ongoing research, BLÀT is revaluing this forgotten fibre. By reorganising sorting, washing, spinning and weaving in Belgium, an almost vanished chain is being restored.
BLÀT stands for revaluation and tranquillity. For textiles, knowledge and production that can once again grow close to home.
In addition to its own work, BLÀT also engages in co-creation projects with local authorities and citizens to highlight the value of this local waste material. We design hyper-local products for regional shops or one-off works of art for public spaces.
