The Exploded View: a revolutionary collaboration between construction and agriculture

Many bio-based materials already exist in agriculture, but not all of them are used on building sites yet. For example, did you already know that you can insulate with grass fibre? Or that you can make kitchen cabinets from pepper stalks? Food for thought for farmers and building professionals on how to join forces for the house of the future.

The Exploded View Beyond Building, an exhibition in the shape of a life-size house, will be on the grounds of Kamp C until October. In this organic house, you will find about a hundred applications of natural building materials. Kamp C wants to give all farmers and builders the opportunity to become extensively acquainted with circular construction and show them what they can do for each other in a truly revolutionary collaboration. On Tuesday 9 May, Kamp C therefore invites the agriculture and construction sector to an interesting morning event.

On the programme:

  • 9 - 9.30 a.m.: welcome
  • 9.30 - 10.10: explanation by Kamp C, Rurant, Biobased Creations and Exie
  • 10.10 - 10.50 a.m.: tour of The Exploded View Beyond Building
  • 10.50 - 11 a.m.: break
  • 11 - 12.20: networking session with pioneers, newcomers and experienced experts from the construction and agriculture sector
  • 12:20 - 13:00: lunch

Rurant vzw works to preserve and strengthen an attractive, liveable and dynamic countryside in the province of Antwerp. This provincial organisation is committed to more sustainability and innovation in construction, and to rural entrepreneurship, regional development and participation. It wants to accelerate the transition to a sustainable society.

Biobased Creations conceived and made The Exploded View Beyond Building. This creative studio specialises in installations, projects and storytelling about the transition to a circular world.
Lucas De Man, one of the inventors and designers of The Exploded View Beyond Building, gives the tour.

Exie proposes fully circular building materials as a full-fledged alternative to traditional building products. Examples include lime hemp mixes and walls for various applications, including insulation.
