A tour of the 3D concrete printer
At our site, we and Thomas More are pushing the boundaries of traditional construction methods with our advanced 3D concrete printing technology. The initiative plays an important role in the development of sustainable construction techniques that have the potential to reduce both material waste and construction time.
Opportunities and challenges of 3D printing in the construction industry
3D concrete printing offers us many opportunities to realise complex and personalised designs that traditional methods cannot see. This opens the door for creative designs. Think of anything that is difficult to produce in a standardised way, such as repairs to historical buildings, dike steps, works of art, and so on. Thanks to the 3D concrete printer, we can also fill many needs in society, such as supports to make thresholds on the street wheelchair-accessible.
On the other hand, the use of concrete is also not without its drawbacks and we have to take this into account. The production of cement, an ingredient of concrete, emits a lot of CO2. At Kamp C, we are therefore experimenting with new printing mixtures that contain less cement, and looking for alternatives without cement. For this, we actively seek partners to develop this together.
Our goal is to make 3D printing technology accessible to professionals and students, train them in this new technique and make the market ready for this innovative approach.

Practical
A maximum of 15 participants can register per group. The cost is €200 per group and the tour lasts about 1 hour. Payment can be made via a link you will find in the confirmation e-mail. Payment is due one week before the visit. The tour will start in the building 't Centrum with a short presentation, after which you will walk past a real 3D-printed house to the 3D printer.
In autumn 2024, we will open many additional tours on Mondays . Would you like to attend now? Then book your spot quickly, by emailing email hidden; JavaScript is required or contacting us on 014 27 96 50.
Besides the tour at the 3D concrete printer, we foresee some other inspiring formulas:
