Mycelium wall panels
The wall panels behind the counter in 't Centrum are Mogu Acoustic tiles. These tiles are made by inoculating cotton waste with mycelium, a type of fungus. They are fully circular and biodegradable and also contribute to sound absorption.
Mogu acoustic wall panels
Mogu aims to achieve a better balance between natural and man-made building materials. With that goal in mind, they started developing materials by combining textile scraps with mycelium. At Kamp C, we use their acoustic panels, which are manufactured using this innovative technique.
A Mogu wall panel is created by grafting sterilised textile scraps, mainly cotton, with mycelium composite materials. Mycelium, the vegetative stage of mushrooms, is grown on the textile scraps. Through fungal fermentation, these materials bond to form a raw material from which the tiles are made. These tiles are completely bio-based and can be biodegraded again at the end of their lifespan, thus closing the life cycle.
In addition to their eco-friendly properties, these panels also offer excellent sound absorption, making them a stylish and functional acoustic solution. Perfect for our counter!
