With the Soft Side Up Bench, Offsite demonstrates how industrial waste materials can be given a second life. This bench is made from rejected steel stair treads from STACO. By folding them inside out and reassembling them, a robust and surprising seating object with an honest story is created.
The design consists of separate components that are easy to dismantle. This makes maintenance and reuse easy and extends the bench's lifespan. Offsite proves that sustainable design is not about avoiding waste, but about making smart use of what is already available.
