A construction team for the new bib in St Anthony's
Within the EHHUR project, the municipality & OCMW Zoersel selected a construction team for the realisation of the new library and accompanying social housing on the site Handelslei (Sint-Antonius). Kamp C supported them in choosing a circular, sustainable and inclusive plan.
After a careful selection process, the construction team Beneens, Cuypers and Q architects was chosen from three project applicants to realise this project. The project, which started in 2020, is possible thanks in part to European subsidies from EHHUR (Eyes, Hearts, Hands, Urban Revolution). New meeting place for all residents
The new library will be located on the current site and should become a modern meeting place. The design by Beneens, Cuypers and Q architects, co-chosen by a jury of city councillors, experts and residents, stands out for its green integration into the environment and the application of sustainable and circular building techniques.
The new library will not just be a place to borrow books, but an inspiring environment where residents can learn, develop themselves and meet. Besides the library, the building should also accommodate at least four social housing units, all wheelchair-accessible, two of which will be fully wheelchair-accessible.
If all goes according to plan, the new library will open in spring 2026.
