Renovate with spirit: Kamp C seeks a performer for a bio-based and circular renovation
The Kamp C Infocentrum is on the eve of an ambitious transformation. With the choice of ROOILIJN Architectuur as the design team, we have already taken the first step, but now it is time to complete the construction team. Kamp C is therefore looking for an executor to work together in an innovative construction team model.
The renovation is part of the ERDF project"Flemish Innovation Centre Bio-based Building".
Circular and bio-based pioneering
The renovation of the Infocentrum will not be a standard project, but a pioneering project in the circular construction world. The 20-year-old building will get a thorough refresh with reusable and bio-based materials, innovative techniques and a future-oriented vision. It will be a place where sustainable building can be experienced by visitors, complete with conference rooms and a cafeteria. The project is about more than just renovation - it is an opportunity to work together on a new way of renovating.
Construction team: at the table from the start
Kamp C deliberately opts for a construction team formula, involving a contractor already during the design phase. By combining his expertise with the design team(ROOLIJN Architectuur, Blieberg ACE, Studiebureau Cobbaut, abt be, M-gineers and BeGREEN@Home), we look for the most feasible and innovative solutions together from the start.
By working in a construction team formula, we create a supported project by the entire construction team. In addition, the construction team is still little used in public tenders in Belgium. Kamp C does see opportunities to realise better and more sustainable construction projects by working together in this way. The lessons learned will be shared during and after the realisation of the renovation. This requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach and open cooperation between all parties.
Review of our breakfast session: first insights into design
Last week, Kamp C hosted a breakfast session that included an explanation of the project's ambitions. ROOILIJN Architecture and abt be gave an insight into the design and the techniques that will be tackled. Hasselt University explained more about the construction team formula, and a panel discussion with Bart Mermans, Kris Blykers, Claire Dewispelaere and Jonas Voorter discussed the challenges and opportunities of this project.
