Eyes Hearts Hands Urban Revolution
The Eyes Hearts Hands project encourages the transformation of cities while respecting local heritage and social context. Residents are involved and supported in their green transition close to home.
The grand challenges of modern cities
Climate change threatens to increase people's vulnerability, undermine economic benefits, hinder social and economic development and worsen access to essential services. With 55% of the world's population living in urban areas, cities play a key role in tackling climate change. However, many cities often lack the skills to effectively implement their energy and sustainability plans, and city managers struggle to find the right technological solutions and drive large-scale renovation processes.
The Eyes Hearts Hands project responds to this with an innovative methodology that embraces the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB). It aims to bridge the gap between art, culture and education on the one hand and science and technology on the other. The project will also contribute to EU missions that interface with NEB, with both initiatives aiming to tackle major health, climate and environmental challenges through closer engagement with citizens and harnessing the power of research and innovation.
The urban revolution starts with us
The Urban Revolution is led by an EU-wide multidisciplinary partnership with 28 partners, 4 thirds and 7 districts from 8 countries.
The Eyes Hearts Hands approach will be tested in seven "lighthouses" with different socio-economic and infrastructural challenges. The "lighthouse districts" are cities leading the way towards sustainable, beautiful and inclusive cities.
Kamp C advises Zoersel municipality, which serves as one of the 7 lighthouses in EHHUR with their concept for a new library. Kamp C will provide support to Zoersel to formulate circular ambitions, promote the use of bio-based materials and to translate this into the tender to encourage market parties to build and renovate more sustainably. Also during the preliminary design and construction process, Kamp C will remain closely involved and provide feedback to the other European partners of EHHUR project.
