Climate hiking trail
Forests play an important role in mitigating climate change, but of course they are not immune to it. It is therefore essential that we carefully consider how best to protect our forests. The Forest Groups have contributed to this by developing climate walkways in sample forests, and you can find one on the Kamp C site!
Climate forest
Trees and other green plants absorb CO2 from the air and convert it into nutrients for themselves. However, not all plants and trees do this to the same extent. A climate forest is therefore carefully planted and managed to maximise CO2 uptake in that forest. Native plants are used as much as possible, which is crucial for biodiversity. Together, these measures contribute to a healthy ecosystem and provide a buffer against climate change.
Interactive walk
A walking path with a playful element runs through the climate forest at Kamp C. Together with Klimaatslimme Kaat, you walk through the forest and encounter QR codes along the way. By scanning these, you will discover more about the challenges climate change poses to a forest and the ways in which it can be more resilient to climate change.
There is also a fun bingo with climate-related elements that you can print out, take away and tick off. You can find it via the link below.
